How did you first get interested in dance?
Before coming to UNC Charlotte, I danced my entire life and attended a performing arts high school. I never would have thought that I would continue to pursue dance on the collegiate level, due to wanting to pursue a biology degree. This all changed from deciding to take a dance elective class which was vernacular jazz with Professor Ashley Tate. This class changed the trajectory of my life and realigned me with my goals and true passion, which is dance. I later changed my major to dance education and have loved the journey ever since.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
For my future career, I hope to perform professionally with different touring companies and background dancing. Once gaining more insight and knowledge from my performing experience, I plan on taking what I have learned and imparting it into my students as a dance educator in hopes of working in the school system.

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Dance?
My favorite thing about the Department of Dance at UNC Charlotte would be the connections I have made with every faculty member. It is evident that they truly care about the students and want to see us succeed. They continually connect us with a vast amount of opportunities and expose us to many experiences that will be needed to effectively pursue any avenue of dance that we desire to go into.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?
Throughout my time here at UNC Charlotte, I have participated in a few drop in dance classes, as well as being a student leader on campus in clubs and organizations like, Niner Guides, The SAFE Program, Curl Conversations, College Mentor for Kids, Jamil Niner Student Pantry, and The Campus Activities Board!

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
In my free time, I love hanging out with my friends, listening to music, collecting vinyl, going thrifting, and enjoying a sweet treat!
