How did you first get interested in theatre?
I have always been a theatrical person, a diva little girl if you will. I grew up loving Hannah Montana and High School Musical. I adored (and still adore) contemporary musical movies. I come from a family of musical haters, so I didn’t get to find my performance outlet until middle school. I was determined to do anything that involved singing. In my 7th grade year, I played Young Nala in my middle school’s production of “The Lion King Jr”. I was hooked into theatre ever since.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope to dedicate some years to performing. I love the idea of doing a cruise ship contract or working in a different country performing. Later on, I hope to get my master’s, maybe be a casting director, or work as an artistic director. Working in theatre isn’t linear, so I hope that as I continue to work hard, different opportunities present themselves.

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Theatre?
My favorite thing about UNC Charlotte’s theatre department is the proximity to faculty. So many students leave college without a personal relationship with their professors. I’m grateful to have such decorated and kind faculty in my corner.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts/design community?
I’ve volunteered at Theatre Charlotte, and I hope to volunteer more during this spring semester.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
After a long day, I just like to wind down and watch a movie or show. ‘Just Go With It’ with Adam Sandler is my staple movie.
