How did you first get interested in music?
I always liked drums, but I think I was first inspired by marching drummers. I then fell in love with rock music because my older brother listened to it when he drove me to school, and from rock I found jazz fusion, and from fusion I found bebop, modal, hard bop, swing, and all that stuff.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
I would love to play in musicals or touring bands, orchestras, jazz ensembles or big bands. I also want to perform my compositions with great musicians
What is your favorite thing about the Department of Music?
I always tell people my favorite thing about UNC Charlotte’s Department of Music is the faculty. We have such experienced and well rounded teachers that are also working musicians for the most part.
Do you have any scholarships?
I’m an MJR jazz scholar, which means I get tuition assistance as well as a research trip to New York City.
When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
Other than music I really like running, mountain biking, video games, and hanging out with people I love
