How did you first get interested in dance?
I started dancing when I was 2 years old, and immediately knew that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
I want to be a professional dancer, and choreographer. I aim to travel the world performing, researching, and sharing every form of dance that I can. I intend on having my own company and studio in the future as well.

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Dance?
I love how much authenticity there is in our department. Every professor is so knowledgeable and dedicated to their craft, and there are so many students with all different backgrounds and specialties of their own. The community we are all able to build with each other is so important, and I am incredibly grateful and proud to be a part of it all!

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts/design community?
I assist with community dance classes and events throughout the Charlotte community led by some of my professor’s companies, like Bloco Afro Ayedun (Professor Tamera Williams), and Movement Migration (Professor Kim Jones).

I perform around the community, training with several different dance performance groups and companies including La Casa De La Cultura and Samba Ritmo.

As Vice President/Artistic Director of UNCC’s Queen City Circus, I also collaborate with my fellow members for our multiple performances and meetings throughout each semester, showcasing and teaching different Aerial Arts, Acrobatics, and more.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
I spend just about all of my free time with my puppy, and I spend time reading whenever I can!
