How did you first get interested in art?
I got interested in Graphic Design because I have always been the art kid in school who loved to doodle and design my own characters. I also enjoyed a lot of creative problem solving in high school where I would come up with posters or slides for any assignment I was tasked with. When I found out about the Graphic Design discipline at Charlotte and its many opportunities, it felt like I finally found my place!

What kind of career do you hope to have?
I want to be a UX/UI designer where I will get to solve real world problems with design and create a positive social impact on people’s lives.

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Art & Art History?
My favorite thing about my department is that it’s a very tight-knit and supportive community. I pretty much grew up in this major with my graduating class, and I can always rely on them. They are so uplifting and made this major so much fun!

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts/design community?
I used to work at NinerTimes as a layout designer, where I prepped news articles for printing. I made some awesome connections there who I will always be grateful to know. Now I work as Resident Advisor on campus, utilizing my creativity within the Marketing Committee of my residence hall and making sure students feel safe and welcome on campus.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
I like to hang out with my friends and try out different boba spots and Asian restaurants in Charlotte. I also love to go thrifting!
