How did you first get interested in art?
My interests in art began when I was younger, I was always connected to creating something, it felt like the one grounding force holding me up and it still is to this day.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
I wish I knew more of what exact career I’m searching for. I would like to follow where art takes me. I know maybe I should be more intentional sometimes, I don’t know where I will art, or who I will be, but I hope to always be inspired. I’m looking to continue dancing, painting, as well as starting an apprenticeship at a tattoo studio, with those things in my near future I want to continue building a life surrounded by artistic endeavors.

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Art & Art History?
My favorite thing about the Art & Art History Department is how close knit we are. It is a community flourishing with talent, you never grow tired of it. Everything is filled with beautiful art and artists!

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?
I am a current assistant for Kenny Nguyen, Contemporary Artist, located in Concord, NC. Working with Kenny has been fulfilling those dreams of working in a studio, considering I am working with such a wonderful person and artist, I am extremely grateful. You are constantly learning not only about the practice itself but how to be the best you can be. You are learning something new all the time, and over the past year I have come to understand what it takes to be invested in your work wholeheartedly, from seeing his practice to inventory to installations and more. Everything is a process, takes hard work, and working as a team is special. 

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
I spend a lot of my time outside, dancing, and appreciating what is around me. Sharing a meal, music, and moments with others is what enjoy greatly.
