Jacob Taylor

Degree: BFA Fine Art with a Digital Media Concentration and Film Studies Minor
Graduation Year: 2026
Hometown: Mint Hill, NC

Why did you choose this particular degree?
I wanted to explore the world of digital media, specifically video production. I understood the value of continuing my art education after high school. The opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and professionals in the film industry has made college an invaluable experience.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope to work for a film company in the southeast as a producer-editor. I enjoy spending most of my time in the pre-production and post-production stages of film projects.

How do you think this degree will prepare you for the career you are choosing?
Having a digital media degree concentration compliments the film minor because both areas of study make each other more effective in growing technique and craft.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte architecture/design community?
I assist my church’s audio/visual ministry. I attend Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, in Mint Hill.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
I produce and edit my travel series, Jacob’s Rail Expedition. I tour the southeast and other parts of the country to document my travels by rail to viewers of my YouTube channel, Crater Films. I coordinate with tourist railroads and train museums to deliver the series. I’m currently wrapping up the third season.
