Professor’s Audio Play Adaptation Begins Streaming for Halloween

Aly Amidei has adapted the novella Carmilla for Chicago’s Lifeline Theatre Company.

Assistant Professor of Costume Design Aly Amidei has adapted the novella Carmilla as an audio play that the Chicago-based Lifeline Theatre Company will begin streaming on October 30. Written in 1871-72 by the Irish author J. Sheridan Le Fanu, Carmilla is an early example of vampire fiction and was an inspiration for Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel, Dracula.

Aly AmideiAmidei has been active with Lifeline Theatre since 2011, designing costumes for a dozen productions. Recently, she has also contributed adaptations to the company’s repertory. In 2016 she was the adaptor, co-lyricist, and costume designer for Lester's Dreadful Sweaters and in 2018 she adapted and designed costumes for Bunny's Book Club, both for Lifeline's KidSeries.

Beginning October 20, the three-part Carmilla audio drama will air week by week until the final episode, at which point all will be available for listening until November 30. Visit the Lifeline Theatre website for details.
