The Department of Theatre presents an original children's play adapted from the book of poetry by Vikram Madan, A Hatful of Dragons. In addition to the campus performance on April 15 at 4 pm in the Arts Quad, the play will be performed throughout the community. Please see below for all performance locations. All performances are FREE.
Sometimes the simplest thing, like finding a quiet place, is the most difficult. This is especially true when a poet searches for silence smack dab in the middle of a place filled with pandas, dragons, homemade music, and a hatful of fun. A Hatful of Dragons is imagined straight from the vibrant pages of Vikram Madan’s poetry, adapted by Professor Beth Murray and student playwrights: Micah Contee, Isabelle Grise, Erin Jarrell, Maxwell Martin, Brittney Tavira-Cuevas and Courtney Cox Tillson.
The world of A Hatful of Dragons is created with recycled, repurposed, and reimagined items. One's trash is another's art. Themes of collaboration, imagination, and taking care resonate through the poetic episodes, seeing the world we know in a newer, fresher way.
Perfect for the eight and under crowd and their grown-ups. Run time is approximately 30 minutes.
Check out these community performances, all free and open to the public.
